What runs before you decide

Nothing. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party script of any kind. Until you answer the bar at the foot of the page, this site stores nothing in your browser and makes no request on your behalf to anyone.

Strictly necessary

One item, and it is not a cookie. Your answer to the consent bar is kept in your browser’s local storage under the key wsg:consent, with the date you gave it and a version number, so that we do not ask again on every page and so that we can show when the answer was given. It never leaves your device.

Analytics, only if you accept

Google Analytics 4 sets the following. Names and lifetimes are Google’s and can change without us being told; this list was checked on 16 August 2026.

• _ga — distinguishes one browser from another. Two years.
• _ga_G-88S3X6ZW9P — keeps the state of the current visit for this property. Two years.
• Both are set on this domain by the Google tag, and both are removed if you clear your browser storage.

What we do not use

No advertising or retargeting tags. No social media pixels. No heatmaps or session recording. No consent-management service, which would itself be a third party watching you agree to be watched. Our advertising consent signals are sent to Google as denied, because there is nothing to grant them for.

Cookies set by other sites

Following a booking link takes you to Booking.com, usually through Commission Junction. Those services set their own cookies on their own domains once you arrive, which is how a booking is credited to us. We cannot set or read them, and their policies govern them, not this page.

Changing your mind

The cookie settings link at the foot of every page brings the bar back. Refusing after having accepted stops any further collection; to remove what has already been collected, clear your browser’s cookies for this site.
